I’m back!!!HGTV magazines, style tips for fall, and life updates!!

Hey guys welcome back to the blog!! I’m going to start off by saying how sorry I am that I have been gone so long.  I have missed blogging so much while I took my break.  I am back for good now and will be posting as many times a week as I can fit into my schedule.  A lot has happened since spring break of last year.  I am officially a junior in high school, and so excited for these last couple years before I am off to college.  There are so many things I have been busy with, but the one thing I missed the most was not being able to blog.  My sister redid her room for her birthday, so hopefully I can show you how great she designed her room.  It is so her, and the whole room looks very put together.  Also, does any one else not believe that it is November, the beginning of the holiday season.  I love the holidays, it is something that could not get me more excited.  I recently got my HGTV magazine in the mail, and you guys know how much I love them.  This months issue has some great fall tips and tricks to help style your home, and entertain during the holiday season as well.  The images and the interior design seems to get better in every issue that I receive.  Once again, if you have never read these magazines and love my blog, I highly recommend to buy one.  This issue also shows the perfect way to add pops of color into a bland, boring room.  If you want some more of my favorite fall tips go check out some of my other blog posts from last year.  I wanted to introduce a new post series on my blog this month.  Because it is November, every Thursday I will be doing thankful Thursday here on the blog.  I will explain to you guys what I am thankful for, whether it is related to interior design or not.  This way it will tie in the idea of being thankful and you guys will learn a little more about me.  Thanks for being so supportive, and get ready for tons of new blogs about interior design and more.

Spring Cleaning Life Hacks

Hey guys! Sorry I have been gone for so long, I was crazy busy with school work.  I will be back to my regular schedule.  I have spring break in one week where I’ll be posting everyday! In other news, today is the first day of spring.  For some reason, I always participate in spring cleaning(mainly for my closet). I hate spring cleaning but these life hacks make it go fast and look great!

This  first one is to time yourself.  I think this is a great idea.  Put on some exciting music and just dig down deep.  You wouldn’t believe how fast(or slow) you can get things done.

Clean things that are normally aren’t cleaned.  Clean your shower head, or your dishwasher, things that you don’t clean every time your house gets dirty.  Here’s a reminder: they most likely need to be cleaned.

Does anyone think about organizing their fridge? Its actually a pretty good idea I wish I came up with.  One cool way is to make a lazy susan in your fridge.  You can do this by putting a plate or a tray under your food.  It has to be smaller than the fridge shelf, and then you can spin it, access everything, and its also organized.  Or you can label your foods with expiration dates, so you eat all of your food before the summer.

Another one of my favorite life hacks is for cleaning out your closet, which I do a lot.  My closet gets messy after getting dressed for school almost every day.  Use separate garbage bags when getting rid of things.  I use one for donating or giving away, and one for regular garbage.

When your done with all this spring cleaning, sit back and relax, you deserve it.  Also if anyone is interested, I would love to feature some of your houses on my blog.  Feel free to email me with images or questions relating to interior design! New posts coming soon! Happy Spring Home Designers!

How to find your interior design style

I’ve been thinking a lot  about how I came to know what my home design style is.  Not everyone can just see something that they like and match it  with a ton of other things.  Its hard.  That is why, for todays blog post I will be helping you guys  figure out what your style is!

First of all, I should probably tell you guys what style I am.  I really love the farmhouse styled homes with some cute pops of color here and there.  The way I figured out what was my favorite was by looking  through magazines, on social media sites like Pinterest, and watching tons of home design shows to find what I liked.

You can also ask your self these questions:

Do I like light or dark spaces?

Do I enjoy color or more basic designed rooms?

Do I have more of a modern or traditional flare?

Even through these questions may help you find your style, you may not fit into any of the different styles because everyone is different.  If you don’t find a style that you perfectly fit into, you may have to alter it a bit.  I like farmhouses but they are sometimes to plain for me.  But a farmhouse with color, to me is the perfect combination.  You can always make up your own style too, which makes you super creative.  The one thing  that is the most important when designing a house, is to style your house in what ever way you like it.  After all, it is your house, your the one who will have to live with it.  I hope this helped you find your interior design style.  Comment some blog posts you guys would like to see! Remember that in February, there will be blog posts every Sunday!  Style away home designers!

Ho Ho Holiday Room

Hey Amazing Home Designers!! Christmas brings on a time of decoration, joy, and giving back.  I have my room decorated for Christmas and I’m super excited to show you how I did it and where I got everything.

  1. One of the things I have on my door is a little initialed ornament with the letter A.  This adds so much even though it’s small.
  2. On my dresser I put some great thought into what I would put there to decorate.  I bought this sparkly Christmas Tree at a store called At Home.  I also found this metal tray that I got from IKEA, and added some Christmas ornaments I already had.  The ornaments are mostly pink and silver.
  3. I also found this festive silver pillow at the store called At Home.  It’s so cool and has a white Christmas tree on it.  I love putting this on my bed and it looks so nice with the pink and silver Christmas theme I am going for.
  4. I found these small green Christmas trees in my Christmas bin.  I decided to put them on my shelving unit to give it a final touch.
  5. Decorated my magnet board……what else is new
  6. Last but not least, I added my pink Christmas tree!

Merry Christmas everyone and I hope you enjoyed!

Great Accessories to add to any Room!

Okay we all have that moment.  You know, that “I don’t know what is missing from this room” moment.  It happens to all the greatest home and interior designers.  But, because we are so creative we know what to do.  And if  your a little stuck, I’m here to help.  So lets talk about great things to add to any room(fall edition).

  1. Its fall. That means in most places its normally really cold.  In my home town its normally a low of about thirty degrees.  To solve this problem, and decorate, add a blanket.  Blankets are warm, and they normally add that cozy fall touch.  They look great in bedrooms, living rooms, and any other room thats just your “Time to Hang Out” room.  One rule that I always live by is to buy a blanket(or really any other accessories) that matches other colors in the room.  That way it fits in perfectly.
  2. Number two is for any room in the house! Thats right, any room your heart desires! A simple family picture, or a  picture you are super proud of from your Instagram framed looks great in any room.  Pretty easy, right?
  3. Ever wondered how many throw pillows your allowed to have in your house?  The next accessory is throw pillows.  Fall throw pillows are some of my favorite of all time. Find ones that have pumpkins, foxes, or leaves printed on them.  Or if you really want to save money, you could DIY them.  You’ll be comfortable for the rest of fall.

And the last is probably my favorite.  Fall= pumpkins, and what would be fall without them.  Its so fun and festive to purchase them around this time of year(they even look good around thanksgiving).  The cool thing  about them is you can personalize them and make it your own.

I hope these super amazing accessories helped spice up your house for fall.  Comment some other blog posts you guys would like to see down below.  Hope you enjoyed!

I decided to change up my magnet board in inspiration for fall! I took my HGTV Magazine issue for October, and cut out some of the coziest pictures.  Instead of all the summery, bright pictures, I took warm colors and super cozy images. If you don’t want your board to have home pictures, you can use pictures of your family, or just other things you enjoy! I love the way my board now looks, and if you guys are looking to add some fall to your house or room, you can always update your pictures on your magnet board! Happy fall!

Simple Ways To Organize Your House!

Hi Amazing Home Designers! Today I’m going to be teaching you guys some super simple ways to organize your home. I got inspired by the back to school season, and I know that organizing my house is tons easier when I have school supplies.  So lets get organizing!

  1. I like to write when I am going to clean or organize my house in my agenda, this way I feel obligated to do it.  I absolutely love my Lilly Pulitzer agenda. I have the small size which fits my needs perfectly.  If you don’t have an agenda, write it on a note pad and list things that  need to get done.
  2. I like to keep any papers and information from school or work in folders.  A tip is to get all different colored or patterns for different things. For example, mail could be in a blue colored folder and copy paper could be in a pink and white striped folder.
  3. I also love organizing things in bins or containers. These containers can be clear of colorful.  A super simple way to lable them is with post it notes. It also can add some bright color.
  4.  My last way to organize is to make something that is functional and helpful for you.  This is something personal completely for you.  I like to put things on my desk (just out in the open), so that I will get to it  faster.

I hope you enjoy and find these pictures helpful.  They are pictures that I found on HGTV of some in home offices.  I hope everyone has a wonderful school year, and remember to take time to organize your home!
